What is the Department Resource System™?
An optional all-in-one production toolkit created specifically for Probationary Angel. It combines production planning, music, projections, marketing, rehearsal materials, and theatrical resources into one organized digital system.
Is it required?
No.
The play may be produced successfully without it.
Why the Department Resource System Exists
Probationary Angel premiered in a volunteer community theatre.
Like many community productions, every rehearsal required creativity, flexibility, and a willingness to solve problems as they appeared. Along the way, I found myself designing resources that simply didn't exist—but desperately needed to.
Every checklist...
Every projection...
Every printable...
Every marketing template...
Every rehearsal guide...
Every costume reference...
Every production document...
...was created because it solved a real problem during the original production.
Some of those resources were used immediately. Others were built after opening night because I knew they would have made the journey easier.
The Department Resource System wasn't created to make productions identical.
It was created so that directors, volunteers, and production teams could spend less time reinventing the wheel and more time creating memorable theatre.
Every theatre is different.
Every production will become its own.
If these resources save you an hour...
Solve a problem...
Inspire an idea...
Or simply remove a little stress during production week...
Then they've already accomplished exactly what they were created to do.
Do we have to use all of the Department Resource System™ materials?
No.
Every resource included within the Department Resource System™ is optional.
The script tells a complete story on its own. The Department materials simply provide additional creative opportunities for productions that wish to further explore the world of the Department of Human Relations™.
Use as much—or as little—as best serves your production.

Projection Quality
All projections included with the Department Resource System™ are created at a native canvas size of 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) and exported in 4K UHD video format.
These are original high-resolution graphics and animations—not lower-resolution videos that have been digitally enlarged or upscaled.
Projection quality will ultimately depend upon the equipment used by the producing theatre.
Projector Recommendations
The included media will play on most modern digital projectors.
For the sharpest image quality, we recommend:
• Native 1920 × 1080 (Full HD) projector or higher
• 4K-capable projectors when available
• Appropriate throw distance and screen size for your venue
Higher-resolution projectors will display additional image detail, while lower-resolution projectors will automatically scale the media to match their native resolution.
Compatibility
The included MP4 projection files are standard H.264 video files and should play on virtually any modern playback system, including:
-
Laptop computers
-
Media players
-
Projection software
-
HDMI-connected playback devices
